Organizational Development

Our approach to improving organizational performance went beyond traditional consulting, where subject matter experts implement ready-made solutions for organizations or import ones that don’t really work, to:

  • Perceive the organization as a biological system (GATES Tree Analogy©)

  • Understand the organization holistically based on the 7Ps Model for Performance©

  • Integrate the understanding of human-being complexities such as thinking, culture, motivations, intelligence, and psychology into our practice

Building on that, Organizational Development is a lengthy yet self-sustaining operation. We implement it as an iterative process of the 5Ds Loop Methodology© across 5 Transformation Levels:

  1. People-Centric Management Foundation

  2. Quality Improvement

  3. Standardization

  4. Accreditation

  5. Innovation

GATES 5 Transformation Levels of OD©

In any stage you find yourself in, we are confident that we can grow together.

Level 1: Management Foundation

This basic yet crucial level consists of diagnosing the current situation in the organization and developing common managerial knowledge. The motto at this stage is a blame-free environment, which fosters people's commitment to change. People design the system (organizational structure, plans, job descriptions, main workflows, etc.) alongside our experts, and that preserves ownership.

Level 2: Quality Improvement

Upon implementing the system developed at the previous level, several gaps arise. In fact, the organization becomes aware of dealing with its weaknesses and starts diagnosing them with different methods. At this level, the drive is to transform people's mindsets towards improvement and growth thinking.

Level 3: Standardization

After resolving major weaknesses within the organization, standardization becomes key to preserving patient care and experience. That can be achieved through rigorous attention to detail, simulations and repetition. The key here is to aim for perfection and take a deep dive into the organization’s workflow and processes.

Level 4: Accreditation

At this performance level, accreditation should be a journey, and not a goal, which preserves its purpose to improve organizational performance and outcomes. We conduct self-assessments against the adopted set of standards, train people to understand the standards and develop the right mindset, and lead their implementation through modifying and supplying pieces of evidence. The goal is to comply naturally and not forcibly.

Level 5: Innovation

What’s after accreditation? Many organizations face this question, and it has been always our concern. What will remain always true is that healthcare organizations always have to reinvent themselves to accommodate for new challenges and dynamics in the market. Visionary leaders are key to have at this stage and a risk-accepting approach has to be adopted. Innovation is tough, especially for established organizations, but human beings have always been able to innovate. We help your organization understand macro factors affecting the healthcare industry and iterate solutions effectively.
